🍲 Hidden Gem Near City Hall Station – Deoksoojeong (덕수정), Authentic Korean Cuisine Since 1969 🇰🇷

This past weekend, I visited a truly nostalgic Korean restaurant near Seoul City Hall Station called Deoksoojeong (덕수정). It's a place that's been around since 1969, and it's still full of charm, tradition, and most importantly — flavor!

📍 Location

📌 41 Jeongdong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul
🚇 Nearest station: City Hall Station (Line 1 & 2), Exit 2
🕰️ Open Mon–Sat: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Break time: 3:00–5:00 PM)
❌ Closed on Sundays

🏠 Vibe & Atmosphere

The moment I walked in, it felt like stepping into a classic Korean drama scene. The interior is simple yet cozy, with wooden tables, old-school vibes, and a calm atmosphere that perfectly complements traditional Korean cuisine. It’s the kind of place that office workers and long-time locals love — not flashy, just authentic. ✨

🍛 What We Ordered

We decided to go with two of their most famous dishes, and trust me, they did not disappoint.

🥘 Budae Jjigae (Army Stew)

This was the star of the show! Packed with sausage, ham, tofu, baked beans, kimchi, and ramen noodles — all simmering in a spicy, savory broth. It's the kind of dish that warms your soul. Perfect comfort food, especially on a chilly day.

🦑 Ojingeo Bokkeum (Spicy Stir-fried Squid)

Wow — spicy, chewy, and full of umami! This one’s for those who love bold flavors. The squid was tender and the sauce had just the right kick 🔥. It pairs amazingly well with a bowl of hot white rice.

💡 Pro Tips

  • 🔥 Go early or after lunch rush: This place gets packed around noon!

  • 🧾 Cash & card both accepted

  • 🥢 Great for solo diners or groups – they’ll even adjust portions accordingly.

🧡 Final Thoughts

If you're near City Hall or Deoksugung Palace and want real Korean comfort food, Deoksoojeong is a must-visit. It’s not trendy or modern — and that’s exactly the point. Come here when you’re craving something heartwarming, homemade, and authentically Korean.
