🐷 [Iksun Don – Tasting Pork Cartilage BBQ in Seoul's Iksun-dong]
On a chilly February evening, my girlfriend and I visited Iksun Don (익선돈), a cozy BBQ restaurant nestled in the trendy alleys of Iksun-dong, Jongno. If you’ve already tried samgyeopsal or moksal a dozen times, this place offers something a little different — grilled pork cartilage (오돌갈비).
🕔 When We Went
We arrived at around 5:10 PM. Luckily, there was no wait, but the place was already lively with diners. Iksun Don isn’t huge, so if you're visiting during peak dinner hours, going early might be a good idea.
🥩 What We Tried
We ordered 2 servings of Odol Galbi (pork cartilage), a Korean BBQ cut that’s less common but worth trying.
First impressions?
You might think the portion looks small at first, but the rich, fatty flavor makes it surprisingly filling. It’s the kind of dish where 2 servings for 2 people — especially with a few sides — hits the spot.
Note: If you’re not a fan of fatty cuts, this might not be your favorite. But paired with some drinks, it can be a fun change from the usual BBQ.
🍳 Sides – Cheesy and Comforting
We also tried their cheese-topped fried rice and cheese-steamed egg. Both were warm, rich, and… very cheesy!
If you love cheese with Korean food, this combo is a win.
🍻 Overall Thoughts
Iksun Don is a nice option when you want something other than the usual pork belly. It’s also a great stop during a stroll through Iksun-dong’s charming alleys. Good for a casual dinner and drinks, especially if you want to try something new.
